Our Monday morning & Thursday afternoon classes are level 2 Hatha Flow. Postures are taught using a 3 tiered method ensuring all practices are suitable for beginners and also present a challenge to continuing students.
Mindful and slow, yet still dynamic
This slower paced, yet dynamic class allows time for students to experience, learn and practice each posture fully; integrating simple breathing techniques, to cultivate presence of mind throughout the practice.
Some yoga postures have naturally inspired the teacher, to create a series of repetitive flowing movements within the posture, which encourage the cultivation of prana, and are infused lightly into the class’ traditional Hatha based foundation.
Students are given explicit instruction on how to move into each posture alignment, by honouring the restrictions of the body, in order to access each posture with steadiness and ease.
Postures are taught by a ‘three layer’ technique, being demonstrated firstly in their basic foundation, and then in a form of modification and extension.
Students are encouraged to find their personal level of entry in each posture, by seeking their own wisdom, in order that the postures nourish the body, according to individual needs.
Students unable to access postures due to injury or any physical disability are given suitable alternative postures.
The class incorporates within it, Vedic wisdom, pranayama, asana, and meditation.
Mondays 9.15am - 10.30am. Thursdays 5.30pm - 6.45pm.
Ongoing casual class. Level 2 (suitable for beginners and general).
About the teacher
Di teaches Hatha yoga, in a style that bears her own distinctive flavour of breath, rhythm and flow. She balances this with the slower practice of Yin yoga, in a style that uses meditation, enquiry, and contemplation. She has found the two different styles of yoga to be complementary, in allowing both sides (the yin and yang) of our nature to be inhabited.
Di’s love of yoga has been a transformative vehicle for change, and over time its principles and practices have been integrated into her daily life. She is committed to being a lifelong student in developing a breadth and depth to her own personal yoga practice, and is currently undertaking Yin yoga study with Sarah Powers, through the Institute of Insight Yoga.
