Quiesce: Yin Yoga & Yoga Energetics Teacher Training
Quiesce is an experiential 40-60 hour training designed for those seeking a deeper understanding of yin yoga, somatic movement, breathwork, and the energetics of yoga. If you are a yoga teacher, or a yoga student with an interest of deepening your knowledge, you are welcome to join one or all of these weekend workshops, where we explore the intricate connections between body, breath, and consciousness, integrating ancient yogic wisdom with contemporary somatic practices. The training is designed not only to provide knowledge but also to cultivate an experiential understanding of how these practices lead to quiesce - a profound state of stillness and inner peace.

Training Overview
This immersive training is structured into three weekend workshops spaced out monthly over Winter, the most introspective, reflective and yin time of the year. Each workshop explores particular aspects of yoga energetics as well as related yin and meditation practices. Workshops equal 40 contact hours of training. There is an option to expand this to 60 hours with at home readings, assignments and class planning.

Workshop 1: Foundations of Yin Yoga & Energetic Anatomy
Exploring the gunas (the three qualities of nature), mahabhutas (the five great elements), and doshas (the Ayurvedic mind-body types), this module provides an understanding of how these forces shape our identity, our yoga practice and overall well-being. Through yin yoga, pranayama, and somatic practices, we begin to sense the shifts in our inner landscape, creating space for stillness and equilibrium.

Focus Areas
• Understanding yin yoga as a pathway to deep stillness and release
• The gunas, mahabhutas (five great elements) and doshas as lenses for energetic balance
• Functional anatomy in yin yoga: skeletal variation and safe adaptations
• Somatic yoga practices for interoception and embodied awareness
• Breathwork practices (pranayama) for regulating the nervous system The art of sequencing: harmonising yin and yang

Workshop 2: The Subtle Body – Layers of Being
Delving into the three shariras (physical, subtle, and causal bodies) and the koshas (the five layers of self), this workshop examines the deeper dimensions of personal awareness and transformation. Through breath, movement, and meditation, we learn how to navigate these layers to cultivate a deeper connection to the state of quiesce.

Focus Areas
• Exploring the three shariras (gross, subtle and causal bodies)

• The five koshas (sheaths of being) and their relevance in practice
• Yin yoga as a gateway to meditative states and subtle awareness
• The relationship between fascia, emotion, and energy flow
• Sound healing and mantra as vibrational medicine

Workshop 3: Inner Alchemy – Chakras & Nadis
A profound exploration of the chakras, as portals, and nadis, as channels, to energetic balance and self-inquiry. This module integrates movement, breath, and sound to awaken and harmonise the subtle energy centres, guiding us towards a sustained sense of inner stillness and peace.

Focus Areas
•
The seven chakras as an energetic map for practice and transformation
•  The nadis and prana vayus: directing energy through intention and breath
• Yin postures to activate, balance, and release energetic blockages
• Mantra, sound, and the vibrational field of consciousness
• Integrating yin yoga and yoga energetics into teaching and self-inquiry

Key Elements of the Training
• Yogic subtle body theory
• Yin yoga and somatic movement practices
• Pranayama (yogic healing breathwork)
• Sound healing and mantra
• Meditation and embodied awareness
• Yin sequencing based on the mandala

Who can attend
This training is for yoga teachers, bodyworkers, and yoga practitioners who wish to deepen their own practice, and refine their ability to guide others into the inner landscapes of yin yoga and somatic movement. It offers both theoretical knowledge and embodied experience, allowing participants to personally feel the profound effects of yin yoga, pranayama, and somatic movement as pathways to quiesce. Join us for a transformative experience that merges philosophy, embodiment, and subtle energy practices in a way that is both accessible and profound.

Our Yin Yoga & Yoga Energetics Teacher Training is both in-person and online. All sessions are live-streamed and recorded.  Attend the centre, join live from your own home, or watch in your own time once the recordings are uploaded to our dedicated course website. Recordings and resources are accessible for two years, for those doing all three modules.

About the core components of Quiesce Yin Yoga Training...

Yin Yoga
A meditative and introspective practice, yin yoga focuses on holding postures for extended periods, allowing deep release in connective tissues and access to the subtle energetic body. This practice fosters stillness and inner awareness, supporting both physical and energetic balance.

Somatic Yoga
Somatic yoga is 'yoga from the inside', body-guided movements (rather than an adhering to an external form) which reconnect the body and mind, help develop sensory awareness and restore movement patterns. It supports nervous system regulation, enhances embodiment, and integrates subtle shifts in perception and alignment.

Yogic Energetics & Subtle Body Theory
The subtle body is the energetic matrix that extends beyond the physical form, shaping our awareness, emotions, and vitality. The subtle body is composed of prana (life force), chakras, and nadis (energy channels), it is the bridge between our physical and mental and spiritual states. This training delves into ancient yogic models of energy, exploring how they can be applied in modern practice. By understanding these forces, we cultivate greater harmony within and expand our awareness beyond the known self.

Somatic Theory (Nervous System & Mind-Body Connection)
Somatic practices guide us into self-awareness through movement, breath, and stillness, helping regulate the nervous system. By tuning into our inner experience, we cultivate deeper resilience, emotional balance, and ease in movement and breath.

Yin Sequencing & Mandala Mapping
This training introduces mandala mapping as a way of designing balanced, intentional yin sequences for our own practice or to teach and share. The approach integrates both energetic and anatomical considerations to create holistic and transformative practices.

Verbal and Tactile Cuing

Both voice and touch are powerful healers. Learn to use your voice mindfully and intentionally to facilitate and guide others to calmness, rest and safe self-enquiry. The power of touch - both energetic and tactile - subtly and powerfully softens and soothes.

Asana Clinics

Our bodies are to be honoured and revered just as they are. The beauty of Yin is that the nuances of our body as it is now, is respected. There is a yielding, softening into the poses of Yin, without force or expectation. We explore the poses and find the variations and props which support us in our practice.

Supporting Elements
In addition to the core teachings, this training integrates sound, mantra and breathwork, all of which are interwoven into the sessions. You'll learn the basics of how to include the following:
  • Sound Healing – using voice, crystal bowls, chimes, gongs, and the Rav Vast drum to deepen relaxation and energetic resonance.
  • Healing Mantras – sacred yogic mantras which activate vibrational shifts within the body and mind.
  • Meditation – techniques to reign in the mind, balance the emotions, and come to quiesce.
  • Pranayama – breathwork techniques to regulate energy flow, enhance awareness, and support the nervous system.

q u i e s c e

A journey into stillness, awareness, and the subtle realms of yoga.
In the quiet embrace of yin, we pause - a sacred merging of breath and being. The body softens into the earth, becoming a vessel for silence, for sensing, for surrender. Through deep release and subtle awareness, we listen beyond the surface, to the murmurs of fascia, the hum of energy, the wisdom held within. Movement becomes meditation, stillness an invitation to quiesce - a profound calm where the mind settles and awareness expands into the unseen. Through this immersion into Yin, we attune to the body's wisdom, following its rhythms into spaciousness. As sound waves ripple through silence, and mantra awakens resonance within, we touch the quiet beneath the noise, returning to the sanctuary within.

Teacher trainings at Kookaburra Yoga

The Hatha Yoga Method is our 500 hour, one year, foundation teacher training which brings together the best of the wisdom traditions of yoga with modern mindfulness, neuroscience, yogic psychology, Ayurveda, connection to nature, and traditional and modern approaches to asana biomechanics and movement. The Hatha Yoga Method Yoga & Meditation Foundation Training is the synthesis of a combined 65 years yogic study, practice and teaching experience developed by Kookaburra Yoga founders and directors Mandy BeckerKnox and Robert Becker who have enduring links with gurus, modern yogic masters, and mystical traditions. They have travelled to India many times for the purpose of deep study, enquiry and immersion.

Our 200hr Meditation Mastery Training, and shorter 30 hour trainings, go more deeply into the topics covered in the foundation course which relate specifically to meditation, mysticism, yoga nidra, and the subtle yogas less commonly taught and practiced.

Through study of the Hatha Yoga Method and its incorporation of the traditional, esoteric and practical, modern approaches you'll learn to become a well-rounded, joyful practitioner of yoga and meditation, a master of your mind and emotions, and to teach and share with a diverse audience with integrity, intelligence and ease. Regardless of the ‘style’ of yoga and meditation you come to teach, your knowledge will be grounded in an ancient, enduring and embodied wisdom.

Kookaburra Creek Yoga Centre is in the Perth hills, Western Australia and is a beautiful and spacious purpose-built yoga shala blessed with sacred mantras and sanctified through the presence of thousands of students, teachers and seekers over the last two decades. Surrounded by trees and extensive food gardens you'll be introduced to a yogic way of life, living and learning harmoniously, close to nature.
