If you're ready for optimal wellbeing, healing and relaxation.
Staying in a luxurious small villa resort near Ubud,

A program designed to restore inner balance, cleanse and bring healing to the physical, mental and emotional bodies through the calming, healing practices of hatha and raja yoga; the gentle healing sounds of the rainforest; a Balinese water blessing ceremony at natural water temple; and bathing in a spectacular waterfall. A retreat to truly rebalance, rest, heal and prepare yourself for the year ahead.

We know how busy you are managing your life (and probably that of others too) and we respect that your time is precious. On these retreats everything is taken care of ensuring you get the most from every moment.

Both retreats are carefully designed with a balance of activity, rest, a purposeful program, visits to true power centres, serene and luxurious accommodation, healing massage and sumptuous vegetarian food. Absolutely everything is taken care of so you can let go, fully immersing yourself in the program and healing beauty of nature.

Beautiful & serene venue

Puri Gangga is a boutique resort near Sebatu Ubud village and right by one of Bali's most sacred water temples set amidst the forest and rice paddies. The resort overlooks a lush green valley and rice fields. It is comprised of luxurious villas with their own bathrooms, terraces and complete privacy. The resort has been designed for tranquility and healing with staff who provide 5 star care.

Indredible location

Bali is an island in the Indonesian archipelago known for the spirituality of its people and the beauty and diversity of the land - with rainforests, volcanoes, waterfalls and a spectacular coast. Ubud is considered the spiritual, regal and creative heart of Bali, with its palaces, temples, many restaurants, spiritual centres, neighbouring villages and lush green forests and rice paddies.

Sumptuous, healing food

Food on this retreat is sattvic - meaning it brings peace and enhances the wellbeing of the body, mind and spirit. All food is plant-based, predominantly organic using locally sourced ingredients. Cuisine integrates the best of Indian, Indonesian, Western and Mediterranean vegetarian food, and is sustainable, pure and real - supporting your body to detox, cleanse and heal.

Transformational program

This retreat is about discovering and sustaining profound inner peace, and permanently releasing the obstacles to attaining leading to empowerment, visioning your future and creating a realistic pathway towards it. Detailed information about both retreat themes and itineraries are included below.

Your daily routine

We overcome stress early - by establishing a rhythm and routine to bring calmness to your body, mind and soul. The schedule for your days and evenings is taken care of, allowing you to relax deeply, immersing yourself in the program and the retreat process.

Hatha Yoga

Morning and late afternoon Yoga sessions incorporate Kookaburra Yoga's integrated system of Hatha and Raja Yoga - ensuring the practices are holistic and beneficial on every level of being. Asanas are of 4 types: those which bring inner quiet; those which bring focus and body awareness; those which bring humility and detachment; and those which increase confidence and vitality.

Meditation & Pranayama

We start each day at sunrise with Mano Yoga - a powerful healing meditation practice. At sunset we practice Raja Yoga meditation and pranayama. You'll learn the subtleties of the techniques and be guided in your practice. In the evenings you'll be lulled into a deep, blissful state of relaxation during fully guided sound healing and meditation sessions before sleeping peacefully to the sounds of the rainforest.

Professional, caring facilitation

This retreat is facilitated by Mandy BeckerKnox of Kookaburra Yoga who has studied, practiced and taught yoga for over 25 years integrating yogic values and practices with personal, family and professional endeavours. Mandy's early training was in traditional tantra and she has studied Vedanta, Ayurveda, Anatomy and Yoga in various traditions and styles. Mandy understands the challenges of finding balance in a busy, modern life and what it takes to succeed both personally and professionally. She is skilled at guiding others to realise their potential and to find true peace, purpose and happiness.

Bodywork & Healing

Bali is known for its healing and spiritual traditions and gifted indigenous healers. Our retreat centre has a dedicated spa who's staff are experienced therapists and bodyworkers. You receive one 1 hour massage as part of each retreat package. You are welcome to book additional sessions and receive a 10% discount off their usual price.

Power centres

Bali is a volcanic island rich in tropical flora and fauna. There are many waterfalls, hot thermal springs and places of astounding natural beauty. On each retreat we spend our last full day visiting Bali's power centres - bathing under waterfalls in the sacred waters, receiving blessings in water temples or climbing a volcano at dawn to watch the sun rise over the land.

Healing Power of Nature

On both retreats we take time to deeply experience nature. From the jungle right outside your bedroom doors to a sunrise trek to the rim of a volcano, to bathing in hot thermal springs and treks deep into the jungle to visit spectacular waterfalls - you will experience the healing power of immersion in nature.

Deep rest

You have afternoons free for the deep rest you need and deserve. Beautiful comfortable beds, luxurious bathtubs, and lounges by the enormous pool overlooking the forest and rice fields - all provide opportunities to unwind. Equally if you love to explore you are most welcome to use your free time in the afternoons as you desire. The resort has bicycles you can use - a lovely way to see the sights and local village life.

Total surrender

Yoga was traditionally practiced in the ashrams of India under the guidance of a Guru - away from distractions and outside influence. On our retreats we leave behind all those concerns and distractions to deeply and profoundly realise the spiritual and material benefits of yoga, returning to our lives with renewed energy and focus.

work hard, rest deeply...

We often feel guilty about prioritising ourselves, particularly when we have responsibilities and accountabilities to our partners, children, parents, pets,  colleagues, employers, employees...this list goes on! There is always a reason why others come first. And this is fine, we are here to serve and give and share love. But what happens when you don't take time to replenish your energy, to fully recharge and to take a short reprieve from the demands of life is that you start to become stressed or unhappy or unwell - without fully understanding the reasons why. Please don't wait until it is too late -  the most important person to care for is you. Kookaburra Yoga's new year retreats in Bali provide a purposeful short break to recharge, reset and renew for the year ahead. I'm ready to book...
