Yoga has the potential to radically transform your inner world and outer reality. Kookaburra Yoga offers private classes with our experienced, compassionate and attentive teachers. We also offer professional counselling with an emphasis on self-empowerment through therapy and implementation of yoga and mindfulness strategies at home.

Empowerment & Support

Life isn't always easy and challenges can sometimes seem insurmountable. There are times when help is required to gain clarity around managing life, rehabilitating from illness, transforming difficult circumstances and changing deeply held patterns. We offer a range of personalised solutions ranging from private yoga classes with a therapeutic focus, to mentoring, and professional counselling.

For those who are new to yoga beginning with private sessions is a safe and supportive way to begin your yogic journey. There are many people who are uncomfortable in groups and we benefit from a quiet, personalised space dedicated to them. For those who have an established practice already, private sessions can help clarify, personalise and more deeply integrate yoga knowledge.

Our private sessions

Professional Counselling

We recommend booking a series of 3 counselling sessions which can be weekly, fortnightly or monthly. The first session is dedicated to articulating, listening, and gaining clarity on the issues and needs, the second session is for reflection, reframing obstacles, and implementing beneficial changes; the third is about the path forward and strategies for committing to change. Follow up sessions are recommended as needed.

Professional counselling sessions are conducted onsite with Centre Director Robert Becker [B.SocSc. (SW); Hons; M.Soc.Sc (Clinical SW)]. Sessions with Robert will be of most benefit if you are ready and wanting to make necessary changes in your life but struggling to do so on your own.

Robert draws on his formal qualifications, Honours and Masters degrees in Clinical Social Work, over thirty years experience in therapeutic work with adults and children and a lifetime of yoga and meditation practice to provide a brief intervention approach that synthesises western psychology and the yogic and meditation traditions.

Robert's 30 years of yogic practice and immersion provide a depth of knowledge of traditional yoga and the practical application of Yoga to restore wellbeing of the body, mind and emotions, which he brings to each session as a support.

Private Classes

Private classes are personalised to you! Whether you want to be guided through a challenging series of practices, gain help rehabilitating from illness or injury, to simply relax deeply, or learn to meditate - our teachers work with you to develop a class plan and sustainable home practice. We recommend booking a series of 3 private yoga classes which can be weekly, fortnightly or monthly.  

Private sessions are conducted onsite with our teachers Liz Western and Michelle Gordon who have many years experience, and are qualified to teach yoga and meditation at the highest level in Australia having completed our Hatha Yoga Method Yoga and Meditation teacher training program.

Private classes are a great way to begin on your yoga journey, particularly if you don't feel confident to join a group class or if you have any injuries or concerns. Private classes are also suitable for anyone who would like to focus on a particular area of interest such as yoga asana, pranayama (breathwork), meditation, mantra, or to learn to relax and let go.

Private classes are completely personalised to your wishes and needs. 
The first session includes a consultation to assess your ability, wishes and needs and to help the teacher develop a personalised class plan and home practice for you. The second session is to assess your progress and further refine your practices, and the third is to support and empower you to continue at home or to join general classes. Follow up sessions are always available to you too if you would like to continue with one-to-one classes.

Personal & Professional Mentoring

Personal and Professional Mentoring is for people who have some experience with yoga and meditation and would like to deepen their practice, and also for those who would like to receive professional mentoring, for example new yoga teachers, small business owners, or employees, wishing to attain greater success or excel in their work, drawing on the tools of yoga and strategic thinking.

Session themes range from: yogic mindfulness and meditation for wellbeing, recovery or healing; deep, transformational inner healing; changing lifestyle and habits to support your health and life; finding or renewing purpose; attaining success in business.

Mandy's sessions draw on her qualifications and extensive knowledge of the systems of yoga, yogic meditation, study of the healing arts (Ayurveda, Reiki), knowledge of the yogic diet and lifestyle, combined with her expertise in business. Mandy has a B.A. English, Cert. Art & Design, Cert. Business Management, and has worked professionally as a designer, writer, editor, CEO of a major health organisation and currently teaches yoga, meditation, yogic cooking, facilitates retreats and manages a successful business while balancing her roles as a wife and mother.

The sessions are visionary and practical with an emphasis on meditation and healing, and are tailored to the individual. Receive guidance go to the heart of the issue through yogic self-enquiry, learn the methods and take the steps towards healing and transformation. You receive practical information and support to make the necessary inner and outer changes which can improve your everyday reality.

Whether you are a yoga teacher seeking mentoring to fulfil your Yoga Australia hours to upgrade your qualification from 200HR to the minimum 350HR, or you are wishing to excel in your career or business, sessions with a professional development focus apply design thinking, business visioning and planning, and marketing expertise with yogic knowledge and methods to take practical, realistic steps towards finding your purpose and creating the life of your dreams. Mandy knows what it takes to succeed in the material world while nurturing and sustaining the inner.

About the Sessions

  • ​Sessions take place at Kookaburra Yoga which is at 210 Carradine Road, Bedfordale WA.
  • If you are unable to attend the centre, sessions can be done online and securely via Zoom.
  • The booking form must be completed in advance.
  • Sessions are booked in blocks of three and are best spaced at weekly, fortnightly or monthly intervals. 
  • There is the option of a follow up session or sessions at a later time if needed.
  • Booking a single session is also possible if you would prefer not to commit to a series of 3.
  • Each session is 60 minutes. Longer sessions incur an additional $60 per 30 minutes. Please advise us in advance if you would like a longer session.​​
  • Available time slots are weekdays and by prior arrangement. Let us know your preferred day/time when booking and provide a couple of options.
Single one-off session $160.
Cost is $390 for a series of 3 sessions.
​Follow up sessions $130.
