Haṭha yoga हठयोग - the yoga of self-masteryHatha Yoga classes are based on ancient, yet enduringly relevant, teachings and practices. Classes are vitalising, nourishing and empowering and infused with wisdom, warmth and devotion - the qualities of Sūrya सूर्य , the sun. Sūrya is a Sanskrit word depicting the deity associated with the Sun revered as the creator and sustainer of life on Earth, the one who warms, nourishes, promotes health and growth, the one who unconditionally shines upon all. When we practice yoga with some devotion to the sun and to nature, our yoga practice is in essence, a moving salutation (prayer) to the sun.

about our weekly classes
Classical Hatha with Robert
Empowering, vitalising, holistic classical hatha yoga infused with the wisdom of the great sages. Saturday 8am-9.30am Our centre director and founder Robert Becker is a master teacher with decades experience. Robert's Hatha Yoga classes on Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings incorporate the system of Integral Yoga as taught by Sivananda where all eight limbs of Raja Yoga of Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras form part of the teaching. Attending Robert’s classes will give you access to a comprehensive integrated yoga practice including insights into the yamas and niyamas or internal and external observances, asana (posture/movement), pranayama (breath work) and the more subtle practices of sense withdrawal, concentration and meditation. All these together combine to integrate spiritual practice into daily life and provide techniques to better manage family and work responsibilities. Yoga is not escape from the world but learning to master it on all levels. Classes are suitable for most people and incorporate gentle therapeutic yoga with some stronger body work for those who are wanting to work towards advancing through the sequences and practices. Following most Saturday morning classes we offer free kirtan, chanting and music for about 30 minutes for those who would like to stay and enjoy. Book now Restorative Yoga with Kylie Mindful, slow and blissful with passive, longer held poses and deep yoga nidra to restore balance to the body, mind and soul. Monday 6.00pm-7.20pm Restorative Hatha Yoga is a deeply restful practice that draws on the limbs of yoga to transport you away from your busy life toward a state of calm and peace. Your body will feel very supported throughout so that you can sink into stillness to release tension and stress your body may be holding. You will be connected through your breath to body and mind, leading to a deep sense of wholeness and deep relaxation. Restorative Hatha Yoga is slower than a regular class with an emphasis on mindfulness and pranayama to help calm an overactive nervous system. After a warming series of movement practices, we come to very restful, passive asanas where take some time to really just be present in our bodies in this moment in time. You'll be guided to use supportive props such as blocks and blankets to support the body in deep rest before we move slowly towards guided yoga nidra (constructive rest). The result is a feeling of letting go of deeply held tensions in the body and pure relaxation. You will be guided to move into and hold poses according to your capacity. With the guidance of your teacher, there is scope in this class to adapt and personalise the practices to suit your unique needs. All bodies are welcome. Book now.
