Dates TBA Friday 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm Free or by donation Booking is essential |
Fridays 6pm - 7:30pm Join Robert at this weekly Friday evening session of Nāda yoga incorporating music, mantra, meditation, devotional chanting and yoga nidra for an immersive and deeply meditative experience of sound, song, mantra and attunement to the ever-present inner sound vibrations.
The session begins with beautiful, devotional kirtan in which all present will join. Flowing from this is traditional Nāda yoga meditation which includes the recitation of sacred mantra leading to profound inner science. You will then be guided on a deeply peaceful yogic sound journey. Following this we enjoy warming spiced cacao and a friendly chat with your hosts and our guests.
The music we share during the yogic sound healing incorporates ancient, meditative instruments such as the rudra veena, sitar and tampura, oud, Tibetan music bowls, gongs, drums and chimes with mantra to create a hypnotic rhythm drawing the mind and attention inward to become aware of the inner sound, the ever-present pranavam - the hum of the world in motion, the sound of existence itself.
Nāda yoga is based on the premise that the entire cosmos and all that exists in the cosmos, including human beings, consists of vibrations, called nāda. Particular sound and music (ahata) lead to an experience of the inner sound (anahata). Nāda yoga's use of vibrations and resonances helps us to uplift the mind, raise our awareness, balance the energy centres (chakras) and enter into a state of expanded awareness and 'oneness'.
Nāda yoga is often referred to as the 'yoga of sound' and the 'yoga of listening'. Music and mantra is used in Nāda yoga to lead the mind and attention progressively away from the sounds and distractions of the outer world, to focus on the subtle vibrations and resonances produced by the instruments and voice to draw the senses inward to become quiet, still and peaceful, and to guide the attention further inwards until the mind is completely absorbed in the inner sound of Om.
Half of this session is lying down so bring what you need to be comfortable. If the weather is cool bring a cosy blanket. We do have heating, yoga mats and light Himalayan woollen blankets to keep you cosy and comfortable.
