Soma & Shakti शक्ति - yoga of the inner self
Soma is a beautiful Sanskrit word which refers to the calming, nourishing properties of the moon, and is equated with the 'lunar' energies and aspects of our own nature. Shakti refers to the primordial cosmic energy, female in aspect, and often personified as goddesses imbued with power, desirable traits and attributes.
Soma Healing Yoga
beautiful, meditative, intuitive and calming, Soma Yoga incorporates meditation, mantra, breathwork, yoga nidra and sound healing - infused with softness, the essence of moonlight to restore, rebalance and heal. A monthly 2 hour healing yoga session which includes restorative yoga, mystical mantras, nyasa and nada yoga (yogic sound/mantra healing) and a deep yoga nidra (yoga relaxation)
Wednesdays 6pm - 8pm. Soma Healing Yoga sessions are monthly on Wednesday evenings and incorporate a centring sensory meditation; slow, somatic movement practices drawn from traditional yoga; pranayama, mantra, and a yogic sound meditation incorporating traditional gongs and singing bowls with healing mantras, leading in to a long, restful nyasa guided yoga nidra which incorporate healing bija mantras followed by a candlelight meditation. Soma Yoga is truly beautiful with monthly themes which provide an opportunity to shine a light on different aspects of our inner and outer worlds to see what is helping, supporting, nourishing and healing, and equally to see what is holding us back from fulfilment, wellbeing and joy. While the practices are quiet, calming and meditative, Soma Yoga is inherently positive and transformative! The sessions are intuitive and intelligently structured to ensure a safe, holistic and meditative experience. The movement practices are slow and mindful to release tension held in the physical and subtle body fields. The pranayama practices balance and stabilise the breath, mind and mood, while the meditation is focussed on releasing negative mental and emotional patterns so we are free to redirect our intuitive intelligence to healing of the self and others. The Shakti mantras incorporated into the class are ancient, potent codes which are both protective to the mind, and unlock latent creativity and wisdom, while the sound meditation and yoga nidra help us to enter into deep, restorative rest and a meditative flow state conducive to healing, insight. The evening session concludes with a candlelight meditation and beautiful mantra. These sessions with Mandy introduce some of the deeper concepts and healing benefits of yoga. The practices are suitable for all levels including beginners. You'll receive a warming and delicious cup of cacao on arrival. Dates: 3 May, 31 May, 26 July, 23 Aug, 11 Oct, 13 Dec. Book Now |

In the beginning and in order to progress in yoga and life more generally, we learn and practice these techniques to gain mastery over the 5 kleshas (inner obstacles) so we are no longer controlled by the tendencies of our own untrained minds. The 5 kleshas which hold us back from happiness, fulfilment and fully knowing and understanding the self and others are: avidya (wrong knowledge), asmita (ego/I am-ness), raga (desire), dvesha (aversion), abhinivesha (fear of change & death). During the 5 lessons in this series of lessons we look at each of the kleshas in more depth and you'll learn the meditation methods and techniques which help to counteract the negative tendencies of the mind towards worry, anxiety and depression. Lessons are instudio and also live-streamed and recorded. You can book all 5 classes together, or just one at a time. Dates: 25 Feb, 25 March, 22 April, 27 May, 10 June Book now |
