A balanced and healthy life is in between Yin and Yang

Yin Yoga

Kookaburra Yoga's Yin classes are a beautiful, slow, subtle approach to yoga and self-care - with supported floor-based poses held for 4 minutes or more, combined with mindfulness meditation, deep relaxation and yogic breathwork. Each class is a meditative journey shining the light of our awareness on our concepts and expression of body, mind, emotions, creativity and soul.

About Yin Yoga

a balanced healthy life is between Yin & Yang

Picture
This class offers a holistic approach to Yin Yoga. The class explores, in a systematic manner, Yin Yoga through the physical body, energetic body  and mind body – (The first three Koshas).  Students are given knowledge based learning in each of these areas, and are then guided to explore a different sheath of the body each week, through a sequence of postures that help move the student into this area of the body.

It is important to note, that although emphasis is on one specific area each week, the systems work in a synergy (together).

This class is deeply relaxing and very therapeutic, once its foundation principles are understood and followed. It is especially suitable for people with injuries, anxiety disorders  and recovery from illness.

Yin Yoga is slow paced, and therefore results are not seen in these areas quickly, but with regular practice over a number of months, the benefits of Yin Yoga are immense.

YIN YOGA EXPRESSED THROUGH THE KOSHAS
Physical body (Annamaya  kosha ) – Emphasis on postures targeting a specific physical area of the body, in order to stretch and maintain the connective tissue around the joints, spine and ligaments.

Energetic body (Pranamaya Kosha – Emphasis is on postures to stimulate the prana (qi) in the energy systems of the Nadis (meridians) of the body for maintaining vitality and wellbeing.

Mind body (Manamaya kosha) – Emphasis on postures to encourage mindfulness  in order to notice the habits of the mind, learning to pay attention to ‘what is ‘. Students will be given specific tools to focus, helping them to establish mindfulness while in the posture.

Through the long-held postures of Yin Yoga we explore our capacity to stretch, yield and release deep-seated tension to restore wellbeing at every level. We quite literally unlock the prana, our vital life-force to bring about healing - not just physical, but also mental and emotional, which comes through the cultivating understanding, acceptance, gracefulness and the freedom to sink in to the bliss of the  unburdened soul.

Yoga in harmony with nature.
